Madrid city has a population of 3.2 million inhabitants and is one of the most populated cities in the European Union - behind Berlin and London - and one of its financial and major business centers. Madrid is also a cultural center of international reference, with great museums (the Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Reina Sofía) and offers a wide range in all the performing arts. These elements, which form a dynamic and cosmopolitan city, coupled with the openness and friendliness of its inhabitants makes Madrid a vibrant and attractive choice.

Carlos III University

Patio InteriorThe Universidad Carlos III de Madrid was founded in 1989 with the express commitment to place a university center dedicated to excellence in teaching and research in southern Madrid. Its two main campuses are located in the towns of Getafe (Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences and Faculty of Humanities) and Leganés (Ecole Polytechnique). The University has a young faculty trained in the best European and American universities (1900 professors and researchers grouped into 27 departments). The faculty is fully dedicated to teaching and research. The UC3M has the largest proportion of professors with positive evaluations of their research by the Ministry of Education and is among the top three of Spain in the publication of articles in international journals, JCR, dissertations and research projects by teachers. In 2008, the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid received 35 million in public and private funding. The professors ensure quality education in a range of programs, including 20 degrees, 13 of which can be taken in English or bilingual option,  63 Masters Degrees in addition to a total of three thousand students and 18 doctoral programs.
